When someone near and dear to your heart turns another year older, you’ll want to do everything you can to make their day extra memorable. Whether you’re throwing a birthday party, a cocktail party or planning a dinner at the honoree’s favorite restaurant, it’s tradition to give the guest of honor a Happy Birthday card. As if picking out a card wasn’t tough enough, on top of that you’ll need to craft a happy birthday message too.
All I want is for you to be happy on your birthday. We get so much by giving to those we love, even if that giving is simply encompassed in our expression of our very best hopes and wishes on behalf of our best friends. In celebrating those we love, we celebrate our shared lives and the time we have spent in the joyful company of our trusted loved ones.  When we put the best future of others ahead of our own good fortune, we demonstrate love. When our best friends do the same, our love is justified.

If you’re set on making all of your birthday cards but are struggling to find the time to make them, these five cards are super quick, and most importantly easy to make, and require only a few craft essentials to make them. All of the products I’ve used are from the We R Cake and Candles range and they coordinate beautifully with each other, so it’s just a matter of cutting and sticking everything onto your card blank.

Social media shoutouts may be easy, but nothing beats an old-fashioned birthday card via snail mail or hand delivery. The best thing about a homemade birthday card is that it can be tailored to the recipient’s interests and for non-milestone birthdays, like 36 or 68. Even better, you don’t have to go out to shop for one at the last minute. These homemade birthday cards are the perfect way to show how much you know your loved one, and pair great with birthday gift ideas!

Whew, it feels like we just barely made it through the Christmas holiday season, but now Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I made these ninja printable Valentine’s Day cards at the request of my seven-year-old son who asked if I would design “some valentines for boys – with no glittery hearts or love and all that girly stuff!” After reminding him that valentines cards are for Valentine’s Day and all, he finally relented and let me add a few hearts to the cards…as long as they weren’t glittery!

So…if you are also looking to make some cool handmade birthday cards from supplies you already have at home and want to go a step beyond the basic home printer greeting card, I put together a list of cards for you. There are many options for printing great-looking birthday party invitations, but the most economical way is to print on a premium 16-point gloss paper.  You'll also want to stick with a standard size such as 5-inch by 7-inch to keep your birthday party invitation printing costs cheap; however, when it comes to colors you can go with full color since this option really costs little more than black and white yet has much more bang for the buck. Beyond those options, you would be wise to get matching envelopes (also cheap) and have a hardcopy proof sent to your doorstep before you actually print the entire run. The last thing you want is for a mistake to go unnoticed until your invitations are printed, when it will be too late or too costly to make changes. A hardcopy proof does cost a few dollars, but it's cheap insurance that the rest of the run will go off without a hitch. Pass your proof around to friends, family members and co-workers so you can get more than just one set of eyes looking it over for errors.
